ANTHONY Jr.  SAVINO,  44 years young
got promoted to Sgt Major in November 2011

The Savino family and all Bristol residents are proud of his accomplishment

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

On Saturday, November 19th, 2011
The  new  bridge  on  route  72
was officially  named  after  honored  veteran

COMMAND SERGEANT MAJOR ANTHONY V. SAVINO

The bridge on the route 72 extension,  which leads into Memorial Boulevard,
has officially been titled  "CMS Anthony V.  Savino, who passed away nearly four years ago.
The bridge carries the new route 72 extension over the river to align directly with Riverside Avenue.
About 60 friends and family members of Savino gathered on the grassy area that sits alongside the entrance
of the Route 72 extension. CMS Anthony V. Savino's widow, Dee, attended with her children Anthony Jr. and Cathy.
State Rep. Frank Nicastro  presented CMS Anthony V. Savino's widow,  Dee,   with a duplicate sign during the ceremony
for naming the Pequabuck River bridge. Bristol Mayor Arthur Ward said that Savino "affected everyone he came in contact with."

Sunbury  Family  Fundraiser

This past Saturday Post 2 hosted a statewide fundraiser for the Sunbury Family.
For those that didn't know John Sunbury, he was a member of Southington's Post 72  SAL  Squadron.
He was also the SAL  Detachment (State) Commander when he was tragically taken,
due to injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident, early this summer.
He was a very-very good friend of Post 2. He visited Post 2 regularly.
He was a great friend to all that new him, within our CT Legion family.

Our Post 2 Riders Director, Junior Past SAL Commander of Post 2
and Senior Vice SAL Detachment (State) Commander John Wright organized this event
with the help of many of our Post 2 Legion Family members.
This event raised $2,577.00, for Marge Sunbury and her children,
during this 4 hour event.  Marge is presently the District 1 Auxiliary President.
A family certainly dedicated to the American Legion.

A Special Thanks to all those who attended and contributed!
To John Wright and all those that help organize this event, Great Job!!!!!

Chuck Woodin,  Commander
Seicheprey - Post 2

Re-dedication of Post 2 Pavilion
SEPTEMBER  3rd,  2011

We held a re-dedication ceremony last Saturday at 11:00am at our pavilion.
The pavilion is named after the late Post 2's Richard William Anderson.
He was a Past Post 2 Commander (1991 to 1993) and
Past Department Commander (1997 to 1998).

The American Legion Post 2 pavilion was initially dedicated to the memory of Mr. Richard William Anderson in 2000.
A brass plaque was made in his honor and placed on the upper portion of the pavilion. It has been said over the years
that the writing could not be read due to the size and the location. Mr. Francis Mullins suggested that we explore
the possibility of acquiring a larger sign. At the October 2010 monthly meeting, the membership agreed,
by a unanimous vote, to replace the sign with a larger one. Mrs. Anderson and family were present to unveil the new sign.
